Find-It.Dog (“we,” “us,” “our”) runs the website find-it.dog, a directory of dog parks across the United States. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you create an account, submit a dog park listing, leave a review, or email us, we receive what you send: typically a name or username, an email address, and whatever you write or upload. You don’t need an account to browse the site.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and the third-party services below collect standard technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site that referred you. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Location. If you use the “Near me” search and your browser asks for permission to share your location, we use it only to show parks near you. It is not stored. You can decline and search by city or state instead.
Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device by your browser. We use them to keep you logged in if you have an account, to remember preferences, and to make the site load faster. The third-party services below also set cookies to measure traffic and, once advertising is enabled, to serve ads.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some site features, such as staying logged in, may not work without them.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices. For more on how Google uses data when you use our site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, how people find us, and where the site can be improved. Google Analytics collects the technical data described above through cookies. It does not tell us who you are. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, including links to dog training courses at GrishaStewart.com. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This costs you nothing extra and does not affect what we recommend. The affiliate program may set a cookie to track that the referral came from us.
Maps
Park locations are shown on maps provided by third-party map services. When a map loads, your browser requests map tiles from that provider, which may receive your IP address and standard technical data.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Show you dog parks and run the site
- Manage accounts and user-submitted listings and reviews
- Measure traffic and improve the site
- Display advertisements
- Respond when you contact us
- Protect the site from abuse and spam
We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers that make the site work — our hosting provider, Google (Analytics and AdSense), and map providers — and only as needed for those services. Content you post publicly, such as a listing or review, is visible to everyone.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the site and its users.
Your choices
- Cookies: control or delete them in your browser settings.
- Personalized ads: opt out at Google Ads Settings.
- Analytics: use the opt-out add-on.
- Your account: you can edit or delete your account and submissions by logging in, or by emailing us.
- Access or deletion: email us and we’ll tell you what we hold about you and delete it on request, subject to legal requirements.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
